Our plugin Google Author Link gets downloaded from the free WordPress plugin repository about 400 times a week. As a software developer it is a great feeling when you create something, release it into the world and see it in use on so many WordPress sites. To date, it’s been downloaded around 64,000 times.
Last week we were notified that the plugin had been included in the “Tidy Repo”, a site published by Jay Hoffman.
In his words…
Tidy Repo was borne out of my frustration with trying to find quality plugins. Being able to extend WordPress is what makes it so powerful, but wading through a sea of unmaintained, deprecated and unusable plugins is not fun. And it’s often too late that you discover a plugin conflicts with your theme or other plugins. I saw what the folks over at Unheap were doing, and I thought it might work well for WordPress plugins as well.
It’s a small thing perhaps but being included in sites likes this is partially what keeps us keenly developing and support some free WordPress plugins alongside our paid WordPress plugins.

What is Google Author Link?
If you’re not familiar with Google Author Link, read the original post that we published when launching the plugin. We have updated it a number of times; the key updates where to support Google’s Publisher Profiles and more recently an update to allow a lot more control over which content in your WordPress site has authorship markup added, read more about this here.
