Our very popular stock ticker plugin has been updated today to version 2.1.
The new version now includes a widget that can place your ticker into any widget area that is available to your WordPress theme.
The ticker can also be added to WordPress via a short code or a PHP function that can be placed inside your template files.
WP Stock Ticker is a free plugin that is available for download directly from the WordPress Plugin Repository.
We operate a support forum for this plugin here. If you have any questions, problems or feature requests that’s the place to go!

After you install the plugin, where does it show up and how long does it take? Also, if I wanted to put it on a separate page or in a widget, how do I do that? Thanks a lot.
Peter says
Hi Todd.
After the plugin is installed there is new option under “Settings” in the WordPress dashboard. The option will be titled “WP Stock Ticker”

Hey thanks a lot I found it. But last question, how come aometimes the tickers don’y show? Sometimes it looks great and other times it shows up skewed on a different compiter or it will not be there at all. It will just say my first ticker name RIG (Transocean) and wp ticker…nothing else. Appreciate the help very much.
Peter says
Hi Todd.
Make sure you have the latest version, as it’s the only version that supports widgets. In that case go to widgets in your WordPress dashboard and you’ll find a widget called WP Stock Ticker.
Otherwise, check out the documentation for use with a short code for pages
Jim Drago says
Hi there,
I’ve installed the plugin and it looks great! However the ticker symbol ^DJI shows the Dow being at 2855.22 which is not correct at all. Any idea why this might be happening?
Thanks!
Peter says
Hi Jim. Unfortunately, Yahoo Finance does not support ^DJI. Pretty much everything works but they say now that they don’t support the DOW. Odd I know….

I am trying to put the code editing the header of the template
if(method_exists(‘WPStockTicker’, ‘s_ticker_display’)) { $xx = new WPStockTicker(); echo $xx->s_ticker_display(); }
but im not sure where to put it? So far no luck.
Any help?
Great App!
Joe says

George says
Would it be possible to have you create something like a 300px wide box to display the quotes instead of a scrolling ticker? For a fee?
Peter says
Hi George.
Why not just put a div tag with your desired width around the shortcode ?
That would do what you need?
Muhammad Ma'ruf says

Not really sure what you’re asking here.
Best thing to do is start a thread in the support forum -> Support.HelpforWP.com

I have purchased your PRO version and have installed it on my blog at
http://poisedtotriple.com/portfolio-tracker/
However, the ticker has yet to update with the stock information.
Peter says
hello Ian.
Just had a look at your site, it’s working now. If you have any other problems please let us know.

Rio says
Hello Peter –
Does this plugin use “$” as to categorize stocks, just like Twitter’s cashtag?
For instance, if you enter $AAPL (with the sign “$”), it will give you everything about it (so to certain sense, it is a hashtag)??
Thanks,
Peter says
Hi Rio.
No sorry it does not work like that….
